History and Aim of the College
The European College of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (ECVPT) was founded in 1997 in Madrid, Spain as part of the European initiative to advance veterinary specialisation and professional excellence. Established in close collaboration with the European Association for Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (EAVPT), the College was created to promote high standards of postgraduate education, research, and specialist practice within the discipline. Since its inception, the ECVPT has played a central role in defining training standards, certifying specialists, and fostering scientific exchange in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology across Europe. As an EBVS‑recognised College, the ECVPT continues to support the development of future specialists and to contribute to animal health, public safety, and the advancement of veterinary science in academic, regulatory, and industrial settings.
